ROMERSK SLEEPWEAR

17-year-old ,Abby is strolling down the road to success as she collaborates with masterminds to create masterpieces.

I'm creating a magazine as part of a school program; 'Honours' - the same program where I built and designed this blog. This magazine is featuring art, photography, fashion, food, music, movies and you get the idea. With a focus on the theme 'people' I present to you one of the pieces featuring in my magazine.
Meet: Abby Phillips
A wonderful young artist taking the breathe away from thousands of people, where her work has been featured in countless places... she's the next big thing!

Your work is so unique and definitely nowhere near the conventional ‘art style’! What inspires your artworks?
What inspires me? This question is so difficult to answer, since, really, anything does. Generally, my art is fairly abstract, so I'm not necessarily inspired by a painting/photo/drawing/etc. itself, but maybe how the strokes move, or what colours the artist used. It's about looking into the piece, not at it.

How did you begin illustrating?
I began about 7-8th grade. I remember discovering Nick Knight and really wanting to take photos like that. Since I really wasn't able to, having a sappy little camera, a white wall, and an iPod, I decided to incorporate a new medium to my photos. I knew my photos would remain bland if I didn't do anything about it.

What mediums do you work with to create your masterpieces?
I usually bring in another photo and use parts of it, or I directly illustrate over the photo. Sometimes I have to digitally manipulate another photo to make it look like paint or something else.

Most memorable moment as a result of your work?
I recently got featured on Yen and Nylon Japan on the same day!

What is the hardest part about what you do?
The hardest part? Oh I don't know, I love every aspect of what I do. Looking for inspiration gets hard sometimes.  But, every artist deals with that.

You’ve been so successful at such a young age. Where do you want art to take you?
I'm going to pursue this as a career. The fashion and art industries are cruel, but I'm really determined to make it. I don't see myself doing anything else.
